TLG: Thesaurus Linguae Graecae

Please contact library staff at one of the Information Points in the Sir Duncan Rice Library if you wish to use the Thesaurus Linguae Graecae – Online TLG Online has not been set up to use a particular Greek Font so this will have to be set up on the PC every time you use it. See instructions below.

How do I find the TLG Online ?

    • from the University Home Page click on Students.
    • under the heading Library Services select E-Resources Guide
    • select No. 3: Finding Databases
    • select No. 2 Browse subjects
    • choose Religion from the list of subjects
    • select TLG: Thesaurus Linguae Graecae
    • using the dedicated PC (ask at Information Point on Floor 4) click on http://stephanus.tlg.uci.edu/inst/fontsel

How do I set the Greek fonts?

Follow the two step process below.

1. Modifying the IE Browser

  • from the View Menu select Encoding |More| Unicode (UTF-8)

2. Selecting Greek Fonts within TLG

  • from the Tools menu select Internet Options.
  • select Fonts. There are two boxes. Choose the Web page font box
  • scroll down and click on the Code 2000 font.
  • click OK in the Fonts box and then at the bottom of the Internet Options box.

From the TLG: Thesaurus Linguae Graecae web page, under Input and Greek Display Options

  • select the left-hand yellow box entitled A: Unicode Input and Display
  • click on ENTER at the bottom of that box. Do Not select Betacode.

At this point, the Greek text you choose will be displayed in a Greek font and can be read as normal.

Please note that the selected Greek font can only be used during your session with the TLG. When you have finished using the TLG, the computer will revert to the normal default fonts. Unfortunately, this means that the procedure for selecting the correct Greek font must be repeated every time you use the TLG Online.

Also, please logoff when you have finished.
