Organic Chemistry Help
Frostburg State University's Chemistry Department provides this help page for students of organic chemistry. Highlights of the site include tutorials, organic chemistry FAQs, organic reaction mechanisms, and practice tests with explanations for incorrect answers. The interactive tutorials provide concise review information on topics in organic chemistry (e.g., alkanes and alkenes), molecular drawings, and practice questions. Organic Chemistry Help is a welcome relief for students tackling this very difficult discipline.

Organic Chemistry Resources Worldwide
Organic Chemistry Worldwide is an excellent organic chemistry metasite that is not to be missed. Geared toward synthetic organic chemists involved in academic or industrial research. This extensive metasite is divided into sections on literature, laboratory resources, spectroscopy and spectrometry, nomenclature and teaching, and conferences and organizations. The Literature section contains links to over 75 journals (some restricted access), 14 free databases (and many more commercial), dissertation collections, reviews, guides, patents, and current awareness sources. Highlights of the site are an in-depth section on mass spectrometry, with links to publications and databases, and a plethora of links to organic chemistry labs worldwide.

Intute: Science, Engineering and Technology is a free online service providing you with access to the very best Web resources for education and research, evaluated and selected by a network of subject specialists. It covers the physical sciences, engineering, computing, geography, mathematics and environmental science. The database currently contains 33358 records.

ChemFinder.com:Database and Internet Searching
ChemFinder is an Internet-based chemical search engine. The interface allows the user to input a chemical name, CAS number, molecular weight, or molecular formula and find Web sites that reference that chemical. Results are sorted into categories such as physical properties, biochemistry, health, regulations, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Some chemical structures and compounds can be viewed with the ChemDraw plug-in. All of the sites indexed on ChemFinder are listed on a single page in their respective categories, which can be useful for finding general information.

NIST Data Gateway
From the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) comes the NIST Data Gateway. The site provides "easy access" to scientific and technical data that cover a broad range of substances and properties from many different scientific disciplines. The dozens of free online databases range from the Atomic Transition Probability Bibliographic Database to the X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy Database. The gateway does a good job organizing and describing the various informational sources, which can be alphabetically browsed or searched by keyword, property, and substance name. If what you're looking for still isn't found, NIST also provides a set of PC databases for purchase.
