All copying is carried out by Special Libraries & Archives staff and must comply with current Copyright Legislation. You will be asked to complete a Copyright Declaration Form for each request and copies will be provided according to these Copyright Conditions.
When possible, smaller photocopy orders will be processed within 48 hours. Orders for larger amounts and older materials, will be carried out by arrangement. Staff will be happy to advise on the turn around time when the order is placed.
Please note, that some older or fragile material may require specialist copying, or may be deemed too fragile to copy. Suitability will be assessed on an individual basis.

We supply digital images as Jpegs for research or personal use. Please be aware that in the interests of preservation, we may not be able to digitise an item if it is in a fragile condition.

£25.00 per hour Whole volumes and items larger than A2 (such as maps or plans) are charged at £25.00 per hour as they generally require specialist handling and digital retouching. If you wish to reproduce an image in electronic or any other form, including those listed below, you must obtain the written permission of the University of Aberdeen in advance. The fees are listed below. Please see our full Terms and Conditions.
- Publication in any form of hard copy (including book, periodical, partwork, merchandise)
- Use in television, film or video
- Publication in any electronic form of an image, whether modified or not
- Duplication of an image in any networked or public site, or in any "virtual library" (but you may incorporate the URL for an image, though not the image itself, in your personal hypertext)
- Public display in any form of electronic or hard copy (except for a single copy for use in a lecture or seminar)
- The production of multiple copies by any means for use in any teaching pack
