Senior Lecturer

Dr. Bódig has degrees in Law and Philosophy from the University of Miskolc, Hungary awarded in 1993 and 1998 respectively. A PhD in Legal Theory was awarded in 1999 and Habilitation in Sciences of State and Law in 2007, also from Miskolc. He was an associate professor at Miskolc and a senior research fellow at the Institute for Legal Studies of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Dr Bodig has written two books in Hungarian, published in 2000 and 2004 (titles respectively in English: Hart, Dworkin and the Post-metaphysical Turn in Legal Theory, and, Jurisprudence and Practical Philosophy) and is co-editor of a third published in 2002 under the title (translated): The Theory of State: The Idea and the Elements of the Moderated State. His research fields are methodology for legal theory, conceptual legal theory, legal reasoning and legal interpretation, contemporary analytical jurisprudence and political philosophy.

Dr. Bódig is interested in supervising PhD students in all areas of legal theory (with special emphasis on contemporary analytical legal theory, the political philosophical aspects of legal theory, and the relationship between legal theory and doctrinal legal scholarship, the legal theoretical foundations of human rights). He is also interested in supervising projects in the area of international human rights (with a preference to the issues of social rights and the right to self-determination).
