'Intellectual property ("IP") is the most valuable asset in most businesses, yet it is also controversial. Students in the Aberdeen IP LLM will engage with questions of the power of IP and with challenges from activists and competitors that IP limits innovation, creativity and development, all within a range of corporate and economic frameworks.
This programme offers students a gateway for understanding law relevant to commercialising innovations, maximising unique selling opportunities and working with art and cultural heritage. It is embedded and integrated in one of the ancient universities of the UK which is already rich in energy and environmental law, its understanding of emerging economies and its appreciation for law and cultural heritage.
Energy and Environment with Professional Skills
Growing energy demand coincides with the need to move away from fossil fuel dependence and to address global environmental deterioration. Law has a central role to play in enabling both the shift to low carbon energy whilst maintaining energy security and the transition to environmentally sustainable economic development. The LLM Energy and Environmental Law with Professional Skills provides graduates with the detailed knowledge and the full range of skills they require to play a key role in the coming decades as the world seeks to meet growing energy demand whilst mitigating climate change and addressing the environmental harm that excessive resource consumption is causing.
