On 29 October 2015 the Aberdeen University Centre for Energy Law will host a one-day workshop at the University of Aberdeen on “Transitioning Scottish Energy Law PhD Graduates into Employment”. The workshop is organized jointly by the University of Aberdeen, the Robert Gordon University and the University of Dundee. Bringing together the multiple expertise of the three main academic energy centres in Scotland, the workshop aims at addressing the skills necessary for future energy law PhD graduates, when transitioning into employment, whether it be in academia, industry or in a professional setting.

The workshop will be divided into three sessions. The first session will be an interactive session with participants challenged on what a PhD is worth, examining its value from the academic, industry and professional perspectives. The second session will address the practical issues of transitioning from a PhD into employment. The final session will assemble a stellar panel of professionals, industry and academic scholars that will host a discussion on professional life beyond a PhD.

Law PhD graduates and PhD candidates in their final year of academic research at a Scottish Law School are invited to attend the event.  If you are interested in attending please complete this registration form and send it to Suzi Warren at smjwarren@abdn.ac.uk.  Registration will be open between the 1st of October and the 27th of October.

Priority shall be given to energy law PhD graduates and PhD candidates. The number of available places is limited to 30 and shall be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
