LLB Course Handouts

  • Electronic copies of course handouts for undergraduate students are available via WebCT. Almost all undergraduate students taking law courses will be automatically registered for a module called "Undergraduate Handouts" which will appear on your WebCT menu when you log in. A small number of students (mainly non-LLB students who are taking law courses) will not be automatically registered for this module.

Medical and Other Extenuating Circumstances Affecting an Element of Assessment (eg Degree Exam)

  • If candidates believe that illness and/or other personal circumstances may have affected their performance in an element of assessment they must submit written details to the Senate Office, University Registry (Student Reception) no later than one week after the date on which they submitted or appeared for the assessment concerned to allow these circumstances to be taken into consideration by the markers.

Medical Certificates should be submitted to the Student Reception in the Registry, not the Law School Office.  They may be handed in personally or posted.  In either case, they should be addressed to:   Undergraduate Student Services - Registry University of Aberdeen Regent Walk Aberdeen AB24 3FX   and marked for the attention of The Registry Officer (Law).

Upon receipt, the Registry will (a) log the MC onto the student record system; (b) send a copy to the School; (c) retain the original on file in the Registry.  The Registry file will constitute the authoritative record.

Class Performance and Refusal of Class Certificates

  • In order to be eligible to take the end of semester degree examination, students must perform the work of the class.  They must attend tutorials/seminars, submit written assignments timeously, and, where applicable, sit practice examinations.  Any student who is absent from two tutorials without good cause or who fails to submit a counting or non counting written assignment will be reported to the Registry as being “at risk” of being refused a class certificate.  The Registry will email any students who are “at risk” with advice on how to proceed.  A class certificate is valid for the academic year in which it was awarded and the academic year immediately following.  Therefore candidates have a maximum of four opportunities to take the end of course assessment without re-attendance (ie the normal January or May diet and the August diet in the year in which the course is taken and the year immediately following).  If a class certificate is refused the student will be withdrawn from the course and will be ineligible to take the end of semester degree examination.
