New postgraduate funding opportunities for 2010/11 at the University of Aberdeen:

1. Open funding: http://www.abdn.ac.uk/cass/graduate/funding/funding/. You choose the topic and relevant supervisor.

2. Research Award Projects: topics and supervisors are listed in each research project.  Members of staff involved in the MSc in Latin American Studies are involved in three projects:

Important note: (i) You can apply to more than one project if your proposal fits within more than one research cluster. (ii) If you are not successful you will be automatically considered for open funding.

3. There are a number of PhD bursaries available for comparative/interdisciplinary projects via the Centre for Modern Thought and Centre for Citizenship, Civil Society and Rule of Law (http://www.abdn.ac.uk/cass/graduate/funding/other/).

External funding opportunities

1. Carnegie Trust: every year the department nominates the best first-class finalist; students cannot apply directly without being nominated first (www.carnegie-trust.org/our_schemes.htm).

2. AHRC: please bear in mind that the system has changed and is now based on block grants (http://www.abdn.ac.uk/cass/graduate/funding/ahrc/). Our allocation is as follows:
