Course aims
- To explore the role and use of language in CLIL classrooms
- To model CLIL methodology
- To demonstrate practical activities
- To develop strategies to support materials design and adaptation for different subjects
- To design materials and lesson plans which form the basis for a module of work
- To raise awareness of theoretical underpinning of CLIL methodologies
This is a practical hands on course which helps participants develop their knowledge and skills by experiencing and using CLIL methodologies. There is a heavy focus on classroom based activities which are transferrable to many CLIL contexts. The course is designed around the 4 C's framework and sessions will be devoted to materials, activities and approaches that promote content, culture, cognition and communication. Particular focus will be given to the role of language in the CLIL classroom namely the language needed to teach content, to support learning and to manage a CLIL classroom.
