Prof Rhona Flin E-mail: r.flin@abdn.ac.uk- Tel: 01224-272341
Funded by the Scottish Funding Council (2008-2011), this project investigates anaesthetists' cognition from a DEEDS (ie, Dynamical, Embodied, Extended, Distributed, and Situated) approach, focusing on the dynamic interaction between anaesthetist, surgeon, patient, nurses, and all external resources in the OR (eg, monitors, charts). The practical relevance to simulation training in terms of developing "scaffolding", embodied, and emergent experiences is being explored.

Dr Anne Sneddon, Contact: Dr Kathryn Mearns, k.mearns@abdn.ac.uk
This was a PhD project sponsored by Shell Expro (UK/2002-2005). The main objective was to examine the hypothesised relationship between situation awareness and accident involvement in the oil and gas industry, and to develop a trait measure of awareness
