Aberdeen Human Factors Research Group

The Aberdeen Human Factors Research Group is a recently formed research group within the IPRC.  The AHFRG has been developed to focus exclusively on human factors in a variety of workplace settings.  The term 'human factors' has been defined by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as referring to 'environmental, organisational and job factors, and human and individual characteristics which influence behaviour at work in a way which can affect health and safety.' (HSE, 1999 p2).  This definition highlights the three areas which are the focus of human factors research: the job, the individual and the organisation.  Research examining each of these areas has been previously conducted by the IPRC (see http://www.abdn.ac.uk/iprc/research-areas/psychology/).  The aim of the AHFRG is to continue this work in collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines within the University.
