The University of Aberdeen is recognised by the US Department of Education and US students can use US Financial Aid when studying here. You will need to apply for Financial Aid in the US. Scholarships

University of Aberdeen Merit Scholarship

This exciting scholarship opportunity is available to North American Students (normally domiciled in the US or Canada), pursing an undergraduate Masters of Arts (MA) degree or undergraduate LLB degree at the University of Aberdeen.

The University recognises academic excellence. The scholarship award is provided in the 4th year of study, and is based on continual academic achievement during a student’s first 3 years of study at the University.

The scholarship award includes
• Tuition fee discount in the final (fourth) year of study, based on the student’s academic achievements in the first three years of study at Aberdeen*
• One-time, 20% discount on the first years fee of any subsequent degree available to all Aberdeen graduates

*The scholarship award in the final (fourth) year is based on academic merit, and is calculated on the number of semesters the student achieves College Honour Roll status (achieving a CAS 16.0 or above per semester), during the first 3 years (6 semesters) of study at the University. The award level is calculated as follows:

• 4 of 6 semesters on Honour Roll = 25% fee waiver in final / fourth year
• 5 of 6 semesters on Honour Roll = 50% fee waiver in final / fourth year
• 6 of 6 semesters on Honour Roll = 75% fee waiver in final / fourth year

Gen. Hugh Mercer Scholarship

Applicants must be American citizens liable to overseas tuition rates. The University of Aberdeen wishes to commemorate the life and work of Gen. Mercer commencing in October 2012 by awarding a PhD scholarship for research on any aspect of Scottish-American relations (including but not limited to: history, law, religion, philosophy, education, politics, international relations).

The scholarship will cover full tuition fees for the duration of the degree plus a contribution towards living expenses of £6000 per year (c. US$10,000).

Samuel Seabury Scholarship

The University of Aberdeen wishes to commemorate the life and work of Bishop Samuel Seabury commencing in October 2012 by awarding a PhD scholarship for research on any aspect of Scottish-American relations in the areas of history, politics, international relations or religion.

The scholarship will cover full tuition fees for the duration of the degree plus a contribution towards living expenses of £6000 per year (c. US$10,000).

Scotland's Saltire Scholarships

This exciting scholarship opportunity is open to US nationals studying a full time Undergrdaute, Masters programme or PhD at University of Aberdeen. The scholarship is supported and funded by the Scottish Government in partnership with University of Aberdeen. Awards worth £2000 each are available towards the cost of tuition fees for one year. To be considered for the scholarship you will need to have applied to the University of Aberdeen for a place starting in 2012 and have firmly accepted an offer, either conditional or unconditional by 1st June 2012.
