Employment Opportunities

We know that one of the factors that is important to you when considering the cost of studying overseas is the advantage it will give you in getting a job or a research post when you have completed your degree.

At Aberdeen, we have a proven track record in helping our graduates secure that all-important first step on the ladder to their chosen career. 97% of our graduates enter directly into work or into further study or training within six months of graduating.

We know that top companies target the University of Aberdeen. We have strong, ongoing links with a full range of major employers, and the calibre of our previous graduates has created many opportunities for those who are now completing their studies.

Some of our programmes are strongly vocational, several are unique and at the forefront of emerging technologies and industries. Whatever you choose, our Careers Service is packed full of all the experience, expert guidance and information you could ever need to get you started.

Many students are increasingly reliant on part-time and vacation work to support them throughout their life at university. We understand this and we want to help you find a job that meets your needs and interests - and still leaves you time for study.

If you’re looking to boost your budget, you can combine studying with some form of paid employment, and Aberdeen City and Shire’s buoyant local economy means there’s no shortage of holiday and part-time work available. Please note this cannot be used as evidence of additional funding for maintenance when you apply for a visa.  We operate a Joblink Service to help you find part-time work, as well as offering other employment advice. Advertised work does not exceed 15 hours per week, except during vacations, to help you keep a balance between work, study and your social life.

As an international student, you will normally be allowed to work for up to 20 hours a week during term time as part of your student visa
