Sand Injectites - Research Project

Mission


The project aims to document the characteristics of remobilised sands and to understand their causes and consequences.

The project will be carried out through a multidisciplinary approach provided by the integration of outcrop, subsurface and petrophisical data.

 

The Sand Injectites - Phase 2 Research Project started in October 2005. The objectives of the this phase is:

1. Timing of sand injection
2. Depth of burial
3. Geometrical organisation and spacing of intrusions
4. Relationships between parent sand bodies and intrusions
5. Sand injections and long-term basin flux
6. Relationships between in situ stress and sand body geometry
7. Petrophysical characterization of injectites
6. Reservoir modelling
7. Fluid Mechanics of injectites

The research project has its roots in the Sand Injectites - Phase 1 Research Project which has been concluded in 2002.While many of the results are confidential and embedded in the Phase 1 Final Report, the key published outcomes are listed below:
