Worried about money? Need advice on how to manage your money wisely?

AUSA

The Students' Association's Student Advice Centre is an independent charitable service, located in Butchart, which can provide all manner of advice and guidance on your personal finances, such as how to make your own budget. The Student Advice Centre offers free meetings with its very own financial adviser. You can contact the Student Advice Centre by phoning 01224 274200 or emailing ausaadvice@abdn.ac.uk.

Student Advice & Support Office (SASO)

If you are experiencing financial difficulties and would like to discuss your personal circumstances with a Student Advice and Support adviser, you should contact the Student Advice and Support Office and ask for an appointment with a Student Support Adviser.

The SASO administers the University's discretionary fund, a limited fund available to help home students who encounter unexpected or exceptional financial difficulties. The funds are usually quite small and cannot be used to meet the costs of tuition fees or maintenance. Application forms are available from the Student Advice and Support Office in the Hub and the AUSA in Butchart.

The SASO also administers the childcare fund which provides assistance with the formal childcare expenses for dependant children. Formal childcare includes registered childminders, after-school clubs, and providers of day care and education.

  • Only full-time UK undergraduates and PGDE students are eligible to apply to this fund.
  • Part time students and other postgraduate students are not eligible to apply, but can apply for this purpose to the discretionary fund.
  • Your personal and financial circumstances and those of your partner or spouse, if applicable, will be taken into account by the Assessor.
  • Only the costs of formal, registered childcare may be met from the fund.

The Student Advice and Support Office is located on the ground floor of the Hub. Alternatively you can phone 01224 273935 or email student.advice@abdn.ac.uk
