Microscopy and Imaging Facility : Zeiss P.A.L.M. Laser Capture Microdissection System
Room 1.08
The PALM microdissection microscope allows the user to select areas of interest by drawing the cells of interest on a computer monitor; these are then cut with a focused cold laser beam before being catapulted into a collection cap. This can then be used for DNA, RNA analysis or protein content.
We have recently upgraded this to allow the viewing of fluorescent samples and also to look at live cells.
More information about the system can be found at www.palm-microlaser.com.
If you would like to use the Laser microdissection system, please contact: Kevin Mackenzie (k.s.mackenzie@abdn.ac.uk)
