Ocular Immunity
Inflammation of the eye can lead to serious loss of vision and is a leading cause of blindness. Research in the Department of Ophthalmology is therefore directed towards understanding how ocular inflammation is caused and how it might be controlled. Immune responses in the eye are modulated by tissue resident cells and the ocular microenvironment and therefore provides a model for research into fundamental studies of immunoregulation as well as clinically directed studies.
