Monthly meeting

A reminder that the first IDAV meeting of semester is next week Tuesday 5 February 12.30-2pm in F30.

The topic of the meeting will be ‘sexual violence’. This has hit the global media-scape quite dramatically over the last few months; the two examples which have garnered most attention are the rape and murder of Joyti Singh in Delhi. The other is Jimmy Saville. What makes some ‘cases’ grab attention and other not is a question we might consider. As is the ongoing plague (Ban ki-Moon’s phrase) of sexual violence. This despite robust and rigorous legislation, moral and religious rhetoric and commitment.
