About

The Interdisciplinary Approaches to Violence (IDAV) programme is one of the first research groups set up through the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) Research Project Award Scheme (RPAS). It centres around a core directorial staff, eight doctoral studentships and associated staff and research students across the College. The programme began in October 2010, and took in a second cohort of four doctoral researchers in October 2011.

The Programme focuses on analyses of the production, circulation, and operation of violence across a range of issues and topics, from gender to film to Middle Eastern politics, and aiming to un-pack both the promises as well as the pitfalls of the 'solutions' which scholarship and policy-makers offer to 'cure' violence.
