Remit

The remit of the Committee is to:

  • Develop and refine content of IAHS policy for research governance, making sure that it is consistent and compatible with the University and other stakeholders' policy in health related research, such as the NHS, funding bodies, and other relevant organisations.
  • Oversee the monitoring of IAHS research governance and quality assurance through MAGI;

  • Be aware of and contribute to other quality assurance initiatives and issues which impact upon IAHS activities, including regulatory requirements. .

The documents to be found below are the result of a collaborative process, informed by staff from from across the whole Institute and also other local research organisations. Initial versions were produced in response to the requirements contained within the document Research Governance Framework for Health and Community Care, produced by the then Scottish Executive Health Department and adopted by the CSO. We have been working within this framework since 1 April 2004. These documents also fulfil the requirements of other funding and professional bodies.

Our documents are subject to regular ongoing review, and are changed in response to changing regulations, needs and circumstances. I would therefore like to emphasise that these are current versions of policy documents. One important source of review is feedback from users, and I would be delighted to receive such feedback and to answer any queries that might arise.
