Aberdeen Go: How Pokémon can improve your health

Aberdeen Go: How Pokémon can improve your health
-

This is a past event

Join this group on a Pokemon Go trail around Aberdeen.

Recent developments in technology enable us to participate in virtual reality games and health tracking using our mobile smartphones. Combining both, this event will involve a group Pokémon Go Aberdeen trail lasting approximately 2 hours. This social health walk will involve playing the popular game whilst tracking steps taken and calories burned. We will finish the walk with a discussion of fitness gaming and how it feels to be digital and quantified human beings.

No experience required and this is aimed at ages 16+.

Please bring Pokémon Go enabled devices (one each or per small group) and be prepared to connect to Aberdeen City WiFi. Please contact Heather Morgan in advance if you do not have access to such a device/WiFi to discuss options for borrowing equipment on the day.

Pedometers will be supplied for additional members of small groups to track steps/calories. You will be able to purchase refreshments at the start and the finish.

Starting at Belmont Filmhouse Café, 49 Belmont Street, Aberdeen, AB10 1JS. Finishing at Aberdeen Science Centre, 179 Constitution Street, AB24 5TU.

Admission is FREE, booking is required.
