Biography

Nicola joined the unit in October 2011 as a PhD student and is also a member of the Aberdeen Health Psychology Group. She graduated with a BSc in Psychology from the University of Dundee in 2009. After spending a year working as an office manager for a large retail company, she decided to pursue a career in academia and gained an MSc in Health Services and Public Health Research from the University of Aberdeen in 2011. During this course, Nicola conducted a systematic review comparing the specification of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic healthcare interventions in published titles and abstracts. Since Nicola is interested in health psychology, the review included an analysis of the specification of behaviour change interventions. Nicola was then awarded an MRC-DTG flagship studentship which began in October 2011. This award includes funding for a four year PhD as well as an enhanced personal and career development programme.
