Biography
Originally from Ireland, Brian joined the Unit in October 2011. Brian graduated in 2010 with a BSc (Hons) in Nutrition and Dietetics from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. He has a clinical background as a dietitian having worked at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London. He has also held clinical positions in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust and the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, London.
Prior to joining the unit, Brian volunteered in India. His voluntary work involved designing a water and food security questionnaire for Seva Mandir, a community development non-profit organization in the Udaipur district of Rajasthan, India.

Research Interests
Brian's primary research interests include:
- Health services research into the effectiveness of workplace-based approaches to obesity prevention
- Development, implementation and evaluation of theory and evidence-based complex interventions
- Clinical trial methodology
Other research interests include:
- Clinical dietetics

Current Research
Developing a theory and evidence-based intervention for healthcare professionals aimed at determining what components of a dietary and physical activity intervention would be most acceptable and likely to succeed with healthcare professionals in a UK health service context.
