Biography

Pawana Sharma joined the Systematic Review Team within the Health Service Research Unit in October 2009 as a Research Fellow (Systematic Reviewer). She gained a degree of MSc in Public Health and Health Service Research in 2008 from the University of Aberdeen. She is a graduate pharmacist registered with Nepal Pharmacy Council with a first class honours degree in Bachelor of Pharmacy. Before joining the Unit, she used to work with Aberdeen Renal Research group working on a project funded by Health Technology Assessment (HTA), to assess the clinical and costeffectiveness of early referral of chronic kidney disease. She also worked with Aberdeen Technology Assessment Review team. She has now worked on various assessments including public health intervention, drug intervention and non-drug intervention. Currently she is involved in the  Health Technology Assessment Reviews funded project activity.

Currently leading the clinical effectiveness part of the following reviews:

Systematic review of the diagnostic accuracy and cost-effectiveness of magnetic resonance spectroscopy and enhanced magnetic resonance imaging techniques in aiding the localisation of prostate abnormalities for biopsy.

Elucigene FH20 and LIPOchip for the diagnosis of familial hypercholesterolaemia: Systematic review and  economic evaluation.(commissioned by the Diagnostic Assessment Programmes for National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence(NICE))
