Biography

Miriam Brazzelli graduated with an honours degree in Psychology (Cognitive Psychology) from the University of Turin (Italy) in 1997. Following early career appointments within the health service in the fields of physiotherapy and neuropsychology she joined the Unit in Jan 1999. She was subsequently awarded a Research Fellowship by the Scottish Executive Health Department, Chief Scientist Office in 2005 to study the methodology of systematic reviews of diagnostic test accuracy studies. She obtained a PhD (Public Health Sciences) from the University of Edinburgh in 2011. She re-joined the Unit in 2012 (Feb) as Senior Research Fellow within the Evidence Synthesis Programme. She is currently involved in technology assessment appraisals (TARs) and health technology assessment projects commissioned by the National Institute for Health Research Technology Assessment Programme. Her research interests include the methodology of systematic reviews, especially systematic reviews of diagnostic accuracy studies, and the imaging and neuropsychological assessment of cerebrovascular diseases.
