Biography

Jonathan Cook joined the Unit in October 2000 as a PhD student conducting research on the statistical assessment of learning curve effects in randomised controlled trials. He graduated from the University of Aberdeen earlier that year in Statistics.  Upon completed of his doctoral research he became a staff member in the Unit working as a Statistical research assistant and later research fellow. He contributed to numerous projects including both trials and systematic reviews in a variety of clinical areas. In August 2007, he started a MRC UK Fellowship focusing upon methodology related the design, conduct and analysis of surgical randomised trials. As part of the fellowship, he spent 12 months working at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute in Canada before returned to the Unit in August 2009 to take up a Methodologist position. He lead a programme of methodological research within the Unit and has responsibility for methodological research within the Unit.
