Biography
Gladys McPherson joined the Unit in February 1999 as a Programmer/Database Manager working on the RECORD study. She graduated from University of Aberdeen in 1993 in Mathematics followed by an MSc in Information Systems from Robert Gordon University in 1995. After working for 18 months at RGU developing multimedia learning material for delivery over the Web and teaching Maths part-time at Aberdeen College she then spent the next 2 years working for two small local software firms developing firstly Error Correction Codes for digital communication systems and then technical software mainly for use in the oil industry. Since joining the Unit she has been responsible for designing, setting up and maintaining secure databases and associated programs for the running and monitoring of trials as well as preparation of reports and tables for trial analysis. She is the CHaRT Senior IT Manager heading a team of 5 programmers and completed a PhD exploring ‘The Role of Minimisation in Treatment Allocation for Clinical Trials’ in 2011. She is a Chartered Information Services Practitioner.
