Postgraduate opportunities
In pursuit of our remit to train people in health services research, HSRU provides a number of postgraduate opportunities:
MSc
HSRU contributes courses to the MSc in Health Services and Public Health Research and the MSc in International Health.
PhD
We provide supervisory support for full or part-time PhD students.
Staff in HSRU are encouraged to supervise PhD students. Examples of recent PhD topics include factors that limit participation in trials, analysing missing data in trials and the use of patient reported outcomes in glaucoma trials.
Research Fellowships
Clinical
The Clinical fellowship post is designed for intensive professional training for NHS clinicians. The post usually runs for 12 months full-time and the training is a mixture of an appropriate professional development programme and research project.
Non-clinical
HSRU actively encourages the development of staff through seeking prestigious research fellowships. Several funded research fellowships are supported including for example topics on the use of decision aids in trials, surgical trial methodology and optimising caseload management.
