Biography

My background is in History of Art and Education.  I taught French in Secondary Schools and in Adult Education before coming to the University of Aberdeen, where I gained my PhD in History of Art.  I am a Senior Academic Skills Adviser in the Student Learning Service, in the Centre for Academic Development, and am also an academic in History of Art, in the School of Divinity, History & Philosophy.

In my role with the Student Learning Service, I work with both staff and students.  Our aim is to help students at all levels of study to develop their writing skills, critical thinking and general academic skills.  We work with students at all levels of study, from 1st year undergraduates to PhD postgraduates, in groups and in individual study advice sessions.  We also collaborate with staff to devise tailored in-course sessions.   Our belief is that every student deserves to reach his or her full potential, and thus we work with many very capable students who come to us wanting to develop and enhance their academic performance.

For more details about the Student Learning Service, please see our website www.abdn.ac.uk/sls
