Jump to: BiographyPostgraduate Certificate in Higher Education, University of Aberdeen (2012) PhD, Art History, Rutgers University (2008) MA, Art History, The University of South Carolina BA, Art History, Boston University ^ top Research InterestsMy area of specialization is contemporary art from Eastern Europe and Russia from the second half of the 20th century. For the past several years, my research has been focused on performance artists in Russia, Latvia and Poland from the late communist and early post-communist periods (roughly 1980 to the present). My approach is mainly socio-historical, and I am interested in expanding our understanding of the genre of Performance Art in light of this artistic production from the "East." ^ top Current ResearchI am currently working on a monograph that will present a comprehensive history and analysis of performance art in Central and Eastern Europe. My most recent book, Performing the East: Performance Art in Russia, Latvia and Poland since 1980, is forthcoming with IB Tauris (2013). I have also just completed a monograph on Latvian painter and performance artist Miervaldis Polis, entitled Painting as Performance (Neputns). ^ top Research Grants2012 Royal Society of Edinburgh Small Research Grant 2012 Carnegie Trust Research Grant 2012 Royal Society of Edinburgh Bilateral Exchange Grant to the Slovak Academy of Sciences 2012 Royal Society of Edinburgh Bilateral Exchange Grant to the Hungarian Academy of Sciences 2011 Latvian State Culture Capital Fund grant to support the writing of a monograph on Latvian artist Miervaldis Polis 2011 Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies Research Grant for Emerging Scholars 2011 Royal Society of Edinburgh Bilateral Exchange Grant to the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic 2010 Carnegie Trust Illustration Grant 2010 British Academy Small Research Grant 2009 Carnegie Trust Research Grant 2009 British Academy Overseas Conference Travel Grant 2007-2008 Rutgers University Mary Bartlet Cowdrey Dissertation Fellowship (partial award) 2005-2006 Rutgers University Dodge Graduate Assistantship 2005 The Kosciuszko Foundation Graduate Study and Research Grant for research in Poland 2004-2005 J.
