The Felicia Murray Lefebvre Prize

This prize has been set up in memory of Felicia Murray Lefebvre, a former student and tutor in the History of Art Department, by her son Ianek Murray Lefebvre. This is an annual prize of £100 awarded for the best essay submitted by any Level 2 student in the History of Art as part of their normal course work. Although essays on any period are eligible, preference may be given to essays on the 16th to 18th centuries, thereby reflecting Felicia’s particular interests.

The Donal Byrne Prize

Dr Donal Byrne was a lecturer in the History of Art Department from l978-88, and a distinguished authority on medieval illuminated manuscripts.

This is an annual prize awarded in his memory for the best essay submitted by any University of Aberdeen student in the History of Art as part of their normal course work during their Junior Honours year. If the judges find it difficult to select an outright winner, the award may be divided. The prize is in the form of a book token, usually worth about £50.


The Derek Ogston Prize in Art History

Founded in 1999 by Professor Derek Ogston. MA, PhD, Dsc, DTM&H, FRCP, FRCPE, FRSE, FIBiol, M.Litt.The prize is awarded annually to a student graduating in Honours in History of Art, or in an Honours group of which History of Art forms part, who shall be held by the examiners in History of Art to be most proficient in the History of Art subjects undertaken for the degree, provided always that the prize shall not be awarded unless the candidate has attained the standard of of Upper Second or First Class Honours in the History of Art part of the examination. The prize is £175.

The Derek Ogston Prize was awarded in 2002 jointly to Nicola Imrie and Jill Iredale each receiving a cheque for £75.00
