Applications for Admission to Postgraduate Study
Applications for all courses should be made on the appropriate form which is available from Mrs Sandra Webb Postgraduate Admissions, School of Divinity, History and Philosophy, King's College, University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen, AB24 3UB, Scotland, UK (Tel: +44 (0) 1224-272380, E-mail: sandra.webb@abdn.ac.uk).
Applicants will need to furnish the University with transcripts of their previous academic study and also with the names of two academic referees; if candidates so desire, they may ask their referees to send in their recommendations directly to the University without waiting for a formal notice from the University.
The School requires from students whose mother tongue is not English a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 with writing score 6.0, or TOEFL score of 580 (computer-based TOEFL 237) with TWE 4.5, or equivalent as a condition of entry. Applications will not normally be processed until evidence of proficiency in English has been supplied.
With regard to postgraduate research, the University normally admits applicants to particular subject areas rather than assigning them to particular supervisors in the first instance. It is not necessary that an applicant have a precise topic for research at the time of application, but it is necessary to choose a particular area of study. In all cases, intending applicants are strongly encouraged to supply details of their proposed area of research at the time of submitting their application form.
On arrival in Aberdeen, all postgraduate students should register immediately at the School office.
