Professorships
Our intellectual capital has been boosted by the establishment of more than 50 new Chairs, attracting internationally-distinguished academics from across the world to Aberdeen.
John Simpson Chair in Medical Education
This new Chair has been established after a generous gift by Professor John Simpson, creating a strategic investment for the University to drive forward work in this field.
Innovation in this area and recent investment in, and creation of, the Suttie Centre for Teaching and Learning in Healthcare, underpins our commitment to high quality research-driven education.
This dedicated Professorship within the School of Medicine and Dentistry demonstrates the importance the University places on supporting both teaching posts and future generations of medical professionals. The new Chair will support the vision of the University to engage all students in a distinctive, high-quality education within a research-driven learning experience.

Institute of Medical Sciences
Housing over 350 scientists and support staff from all corners of the globe, the Institute of Medical Science was the first stage of a £50 million development of the research and teaching infrastructure at the Foresterhill site and is the largest of its kind in Europe.
As a result of generous gifts from Trusts, Foundations and individual supporters amounting to over £11 million, the Institute is able to research better treatments for a huge range of diseases and disorders including eye disease, Alzheimer's, diabetes, bone disease, fungal and bacterial diseases, and Multiple Sclerosis.
