Your donations allow funds to be distributed to the areas of greatest need within the University at that time.
This can include student experience, research, heritage or capital projects. See below for some examples of how your gifts have made a difference.
Transition Programme
Alumni donations supported a two-day transition event for new students on the Autistic Spectrum who started their degrees at the University of Aberdeen in September 2012. Seven students attended in total and four Disability Advisers were involved, as well as several other staff members from around the university and we also benefited from participation by the National Autistic Society. Topics covered included preparing for all aspects of university including academic aspects, social aspects, budgeting, orientation, developing independence, support available, timetabling and structuring of days.
Niteline Support Service
Niteline is an overnight support service run by the Aberdeen University Student Association (AUSA). It’s a fully confidential and student-run listening service for a wide range of problems.
AUSA was awarded £2,000 which was used to train 21 new volunteers, a key awareness raising campaign including Niteline Awareness Week, events and branded merchandise.
“Thanks to the Future Fund we were able to invest in these marketing materials as well as some pop up banners that we will be able to use for years to come to ensure the service is visible around campus”
