AGI GISSE @ GA Conference and Exhibition

AGI at the GA Conference and Exhibition in Manchester
- April 2002

For the second year, the AGI took a small stand at the Annual Geographical Association (GA) Conference and Exhibition in Manchester - 3-5th April 2002. David R. Green (Chair of the AGI GIS in Secondary Schools Special Interest Group: GISSE SIG) manned the stand for the three days providing a good opportunity to meet with geography teachers from schools and field centres from the UK and around the World. As was the case last year, there was a great deal of interest from teachers in the topic of 'GIS in schools' and the stand was visited frequently. This year the AGI had some entries to the Ordnance Survey School GIS Prize on display, a prize draw, and a range of GIS 'freebies' to hand out, including information on up and coming SIG events. The venue at Manchester was also a good time to meet up with other members of the SIG with the specific objective of discussing how we will take things forward next year. The SIG would like to thank everyone who provided materials for the stand, Judith Mansell at the RGS for the loan of the display boards, Bob Barr for getting to boards to and from Manchester, and Chris Corbin and the AGI for their continued support.
