MSc Integrated Petroleum Geoscience
If you are an EU/home student and wish to be considered for an oil industry scholarship for the Integrated Petroleum Geoscience MSc course for September 2013, your fully completed application (with two references and transcripts) should be submitted online and be with Postgraduate Registry by 5 pm at the end of January 31st 2013. Applications received after that date will not be considered for scholarship funding. Following that date, 15 students will be selected for interview by companies on the 27th February (please note we normally have over 450 applications). The department runs some of the UK’s most successful taught postgraduate programmes in geoscience, leading to the degree of Masters of Science (MSc). These are intense one-year programmes that provide the key bridge from undergraduate degrees into the workplace.
MSc in Integrated Petroleum Geoscienceis regarded as perhaps the best of its kind in the world. Running since 1973, it has achieved an excellent reputation as one of the top vocational training pathways facing the international oil and gas business. Graduates from this course are highly sought after by industry. This is recognised by their sponsorship of places on the programme (the precise number varies year on year).
The MSc in Oil & Gas Enterprise Management encompasses modules in the latest science and technology in geology, geophysics and engineering. It also includes entrepreneurial and negotiation skills, petroleum economics, psychology, accountancy, safety engineering and environmental sciences. The emphasis is on practical application of studies, technology, lateral thinking and management techniques.
