The postgraduate programme affords engagement with practitioners, film theoreticians and those working in allied disciplines and related fields associated at the University. The structure of the M Litt in Visual Culture allows students to tailor the degree programme to their research interests. The programme regularly exposes students to innovative and well-known filmmakers and broadcasters through its celebrated Director's Cut talks series and research seminars. Student film examples from the M Litt in Visual Culture can be found on the Video page. For those interested in pursuing an M Phil or PhD, we have a broad base of research specialisms from staff associated with the programme. Depending on the topic, there are possibilities for co-supervision with Anthropology, Archaeology, the Business School, Gaelic Studies, History of Art, Music, Scottish and Irish Studies, Sociology or one of the Modern Language departments. Researchers may also wish to draw upon our special collections, such as the George Washington Wilson Collection, containing over 40,000 glass plate negatives. Information about other valuable Visual Culture collections can be accessed on-line. We welcome you to explore the Film and Visual Culture site and to enquire further about the exciting opportunities on offer.
