The Center for the Study of Myth are delighted to host this fascinating talk by Petra Tlcimukova

The myth of the Golden Age in the history of humankind, and the utopian visions of its future; variations of both can be found in the teachings across diverse Buddhist schools. Sōka Gakkai International (SGI) is a global lay Buddhist movement of Japanese origin established in the 20th century, the focus of which concerns these visions. SGI anticipates the realisation of their utopian myth through the active social and political engagement of its members. In the lecture, I shall describe SGI՚s utopian vision of the world and techniques they use to foster this social transformation.
