African Sleeping Sickness is threatening a staggering 60 million Africans. Discover how students from the University of Aberdeen have pioneered detection of dangerous diseases using synthetic biology.

Our Cafe Scientifique Aberdeen City series takes place monthly in Waterstone's Union Bridge book store in Aberdeen's Union Street, usually around the middle Wednesday of the month. Sessions run from January through to October and are free to attend. No booking is required and places are allocated on the first-come basis. What's more, most events are free (though some require booking). All are pitched at a very accessible level and give ample time for audience questions and discussion.
