The Aberdeen Bestiary: Sound-Image-Narrative is an artistic research project led by Dr. Suk-Jun Kim and Prof. Pete Stollery from SERG, and was one of the inaugural beneficiaries of a bursary from the Aberdeen Humanities Fund at the University of Aberdeen.

The project aims to explore strata of sound-image narratives by creating a series of short electroacoustic compositions responding to selected images from the Aberdeen Bestiary, focusing particularly on imaginary animals depicted and described in the manuscript. Each composition aims to evoke not only the animals themselves but their surroundings such as imaginary habitats and behaviours, to animate them and conjure up a fantastical world of the animals. The event consists of an electroacoustic concert and a short presentation by the two composer-researchers discussing their unique methodology and experience in working with the Aberdeen Bestiary.
