James Robertson, author of Joseph Knight, which was chosen as the text for 2013 The Big Read common reading programme in the College of Arts and Social Sciences. The book is based on a historical court case where Knight challenged his status as a slave when taken from Jamaica to Scotland by his owner James Wedderburn.
The author, James Robertson will be participating in an interview with Dr Timothy Baker of the School of Language & Literature on Thursday 7 November, 6.30 – 7.30 pm, in the King’s College Conference Centre.
We invite you to this interview session to find out about the author’s experience of creating a novel that builds on the historical story of Joseph Knight to cover themes including Scots language, civil rights, ethics, religious freedom and Scottish history.
There will also be an opportunity to put questions to this award winning author.
