Lecture given by Aberdeen University's Botanic Garden Curator, Mark Paterson.

His horticultural career has taken him around the world, including spells in Canada, Australia, the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, as well as Threave Gardens in Castle Douglas.

Mark was a key figure at the Eden Project in Cornwall, where he was head of the tertiary education programme, before taking up his current post at the University.

Cruickshank Gardens is the nothern-most botanic gardens in the UK at 57 degrees latitude and has been here for more than a century so it has a magnificent pedigree. It helps to extend the story and history of the Aberdeen area. Like Eden, albeit different in scale, the Universities Bontanic Gardens is a site of public attraction and learning.
