This March, Light up Your Imagination!

This March, Light up Your Imagination!

A fantastic week of events for all ages and interests awaits!

Have you ever wondered why it’s so difficult to see the Northern Lights?  Would you be able to run 101 marathons in 77 days?  Fancy a science-charged dance at our chaos ceilidh? Interested in Bringing Your Own Brain (to the pub) for our Skeptics special?

All this and much more are coming your way this March, from Fri 9 - Sun 18 as part of National Science and Engineering Week in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

Come and meet the time-travelling Dr Death (aka Simon Watt of Channel 4’s Inside Nature’s Giants) for a lively  journey through the ages of medicine.

Visit Aberdeen Sports Village for an inspiring talk by Dr Andrew Murray, who ran from John O’Groats to the Sahara desert in just 77 days, and recently appointed as the Scottish Government’s Physical Activity Champion. Meet the University’s new Cruickshank Gardens Curator as he takes you on a walking tour of the gardens and discusses how trees manage to survive in the recent storms.

Come along to our fascinating cafe science sessions to hear about the latest topics in science and medicine including stem cells, climate-change reducing diets, the wonders of the aurora and current threats to our planet’s biodiversity: Events held at the Suttie Centre, Aberdeen College, Woodend Barn and Waterstone’s book store.

And visit Satrosphere on 17 March for an all-day extravaganza of hands-on science: Entry is just £1 with dozens of shows and activities including Mr Bug,  robot croquet, make your plastic, animal Olympics and The Secret Life of the Skeleton Show.

We hope to see many of you at one or more events!
