British Science Festival - Call for Proposals

British Science Festival - Call for Proposals

This is a past event

Europe’s biggest science festival is coming to Aberdeen in 2012 hosted by the University of Aberdeen working alongside TechFest-SetPoint. The British Science Festival has a long history: Previously known as the Annual Meeting of the British Association it has been running since 1831 and last visited Scotland in 2001, and Aberdeen in 1963.

As well as spotlighting the host region and partners to an international audience, the Festival now attracts substantial media coverage with embedded daily press conferences and features a comprehensive suite of specialist, public and schools events which engage with over 50,000 people.

There are many options for getting involved. It may be that you have a research project likely to be generating major results or being published around the time of the Festival?  Or perhaps you are involved in a pooling initiative or other collaboration that would benefit from profile raising that could be gained through the Festival? We are also looking for ideas for novel events for schools or public, and also for suggestions of high profile speakers or popularisers of science whom you would like to see in Aberdeen? We are particularly interested in ideas suitable for secondary school pupils and new ideas for engaging teachers and educators in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects and careers. Whatever your area or interest, now is the time to start thinking of an activity or event for inclusion in the British Science Festival programme for 2012. The Official Call for Proposals runs from Monday 6 June 2011 until Midnight on Monday 7 November 2011.
