Oceanlab's Director, Professor Monty Priede, delivers a fascinating insight into the work of researchers exploring the oceans and uncovering new species at un-imaginable depths.

A chance to view the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition and enjoy a talk from our guest speaker all over a glass of wine and in the beautiful surroundings of Aberdeen Art Gallery.  Discovery Gallery is the latest in the University of Aberdeen's cafe science series - taking place over four sessions during the summer. On Thursday 28 July, Professor Monty Priede will discuss how fishes have occupied the world’s oceans for at least 400 million years but only in the last 70 million have they invaded the deep. Come along and find out more about these hidden wonders of our natural world.

The 2011 Discovery Gallery is inspired by the Wildlife Photographer of the year exhibition.

Tickets cost £4 (£3 concession) and can be booked in person at the Art Gallery Shop or by calling 01224 523695. You can pay by card over the phone, or by card or cash in person. Concessionary rates (£3) are available for Friends of Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums, benefits claimants, over 60s and students in full-time education.
