Part of the Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire councils' Granite Festival.
Dr Malcolm Hole of the School of Geosciences will give a public lecture entitled 'Minerals to Monuments' and will provide a brief guide to the origin of Granite.
This is the first day of the Festival, which is a month-long celebration of all things Granite.
