Held in the COSTA Coffee bar of Waterstone's bookstore at Union Bridge, Aberdeen, commencing at 7pm.

Did you know that concrete production accounts for 5 - 7% of the world's total carbon dioxide emissions? This is a big global issues because cement and concrete production so often go hand in hand with modern infrastructure and commercial development. In this session, you'll find out about the science of cement production and hear about current research into new technologies that could increase production effiency, lower these greenhouse gas emissions and so reap big benefits.  As usual, the speaker will take audience questions and share in a debate following the introductory talk. Cementing our Future will be Chaired by Claire Thorne and Ken Skeldon of the University's public engagement with science team.
