Cafe Scientifique expands with the Cafe Controversial series dealing with topics that tend to polarise public opinion. The University of Aberdeen in partnership with Satrosphere Science Centre host a brand new Café season from September to December. There are a range of topics such as cannabis, nuclear power and choosing the sex of a baby.

Cannabis is the most widely used illegal drug in the UK, yet cannabis-based medicines are approved for a range of conditions.  In this launch event of the new series, Professor Ruth Ross from the University of Aberdeen Institute of Medical Sciences discusses cannabis and its role in the UK . Do the medical benefits square up with the drug’s status as a banned substance?

Visit the Cafe Scientifique website for information on all the Café series.
