University Road Safety Day

University Road Safety Day
-

This is a past event

Join Grampian Fire and Rescue Service and Grampian Police at one of the largest road safety events of its type to be held in Grampian.

Road Safety Grampian is a partnership between Grampian Fire and Rescue Service and Grampian Police.  They will be on campus on 5th May as part of an initiative to reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries on Grampian’s roads.

It is intended for staff and students, both drivers and passengers.

Officers will be on hand to discuss road safety and their personal experiences of the causes of accidents on our roads.  During the day you can:

Experience the effects of a low impact collision on the “seatbelt convincer”

Measure how quickly you could stop your vehicle on the “brake reaction timer”

Try some “vision impairment goggles” which simulate the effects of being drunk including reduced alertness, slowed reaction time and confusion

See inside one of the mobile speed camera vans which are used across the region

View some hard-hitting road safety videos designed to change driver behaviour

In addition, fire fighters will be on hand to provide advice on fire safety in the home and in student flats with practical demonstrations of how to handle a kitchen fire.

Feel free to drop by at any time between 10am and 4pm.
