Moon Landings: 40th Anniversary Events

This is a past event

July 2009 marks the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landings. We have two events planned in July looking at different aspects of the Apollo legacy.

At 7pm on July 8th, in Waterstone's Union Bridge, our Cafe Scientifique will address the conspiracy theories surrounding the moon landings, and the proposal that all 6 Apollo missions were faked. 1 in 5 Americans believe in the hoax according to recent polls. But Dr Ken Skeldon from the University of Aberdeen will suggest that much of the so-called hoax evidence is down to "bad science" and selective reporting. Come and decide for yourself. Later in July, at 6pm on July 28th in our King's Conference Centre, award-winning film director/producer Chris Riley will offer an insight into the technical achievement behind the Apollo missions, using interviews and film clips with the astronauts, scientists and engineers involved.
